Anyway.
This year, for the first time, we were able to do fireworks at our own house! Without worrying about neighbors or getting reported for using fireworks in city limits! And we even got to invite Mom and Dad over to watch. Which I think Mom preferred because she doesn't have to pick up used fireworks the next day AND she won't have to complain about finding firework debris in her gardens for the rest of the summer.
Gwen and Agatha actually went inside after a few minutes and watched fireworks through the window with Mom. And then they read some books with her. Emmy stayed outside and told Dad all about her favorite fireworks colors and styles. Last year, she would have spent most of the fireworks time inside, too, so I wonder how many years until Gwen and Agatha decide that the loud noises are tolerable when compared to awesomeness of fountains, helicopters, and blooming flowers.
Actually, Mom probably won't mind if those two decide to stay inside with her for another year or two. And Emmy won't mind monopolizing Dad's time outside while Adam lights things off. And I love that they're all having a good time. Happy Independence Day!
