One Garden Done!

After working two more days on the driveway garden, it's all clear! Here's a look at the before and after.

These are "before". I should have had Emmy or Gwen stand in there to show how deep it was. Very, very deep.

These are "after". You can see there's still a little junk in there, but not nearly as much. Look at all that green stuff! And dirt!

One thing I must say, it's rather funny that some of Grandma Luebbe's fake flowers and plants ended up in her garden while the house was being cleared out. I had to laugh a little bit at how realistic some of the fake leaves and petals are when they're scattered around with real ones. The red and yellow leaves gave themselves away - bright colors stand out quite a bit among the brown and black rotting clumps. But other than that, I might have been fooled.

There's more than a dozen large trash cans full of corn husks, leaves, and other debris added to two different compost/burn piles. It's really tempting to go jump in the piles, but I still suspect I have slivers from the pre-leather-glove days of gardening (a week and a half ago) and I don't want to add more slivers in other places. So as much fun as it sounds in theory, I won't be making corn husk angels anytime soon.

The tree branches were already there, but the huge piles are all from me. And this is only one of my two dump sites.

While I finished up in the driveway, the girls played both outside and inside. I'm still filling in some holes around the yard, which means they can't run around wild, but Adam managed to keep them on the driveway and off to the side of the new well lines. This driveway is great for chalk, by the way.

At the end of the day, I peaked inside to see how things were going. There's not a lot of stuff for the girls to play with at the new house yet since we're not actually living there yet, but they managed to make the biggest mess possible with a minimal amount of toys. Which included the off brand Jenga blocks. It would be impressive, if we weren't doing so much of the cleaning up.
