It's begun!

Today we officially started "moving"! Bags of movies have been organized onto shelves, and boxes of books are on the floor waiting to be sorted and shelved. That will have to wait until tomorrow, because the movies took all day. It apparently was a big deal to get every genre grouped correctly. I say "apparently" because I didn't plan for it to take all day, it just did. But my favorite TV series are grouped together, my favorite comfort movies are on two shelves (although I may reorganize them another day), and the ones I never watch/somewhat regret buying are up too high to reach. With the scary movies. Because no child under five needs to check out Scream or Attack of the Giant Leeches, regardless of how tame you think they may be. And how cute Skeet Ulrich is.

I also brought over some DVD racks and two small wooden doll house shaped shelves that the girls have claimed as their own. Adam supervised play time while Mom, Dad, and I worked on stuff. (And they brought McDonalds back from town. The girls have all the important missions.) Some dolls and rolling animals I bought at Grandma's auctions are sleeping on those small doll house shelves tonight, which was just one of the things the girls played. There was also some clubhouse time in the closets (and no severely pinched fingers, thankfully) with muffled sounds of ring around the rosie. Gwen ran back and forth across the house through the rooms full of furniture that us bigger people cannot squeeze through. Emmy gave me a tour of the bedroom. Twice.

Ah, furniture. Mom's cleaned the shelving and closets in two rooms and Dad is working on shelving, but the carpets are not yet vacuumed. They were dusty before perhaps, but the dry wall and such made them VERY dusty and plastery. So no big furniture can go over from our house and none of the furniture already there can be put where it goes. And there is a LOT of furniture there, because everything we bought at the auctions went right back into the house. And into piles. We could build a good sized fort with the boxes, except we'd have to move the fort room to room once Mom does vacuum.

There is no running water quite yet because a new sewer and well are being put in. Hopefully that will be finished on Monday or Tuesday. It's been keeping us from really moving in, since Mom and Dad seem to think we need running water and working toilets to live somewhere. I think any place with M&M's and a few blankets is good enough. Agree to disagree.

  1. Skeet Ulrich is not cute, but I agree that he is frightening enough to be on the high shelves. Too bad the casting director of Attack of the Giant Leeches didn't notice the young and possibly yet to be born Ulrich. He wouldn't have needed a costume, and his leeching credentials are very strong, having parasitically latched on to other more talented actors who carried his scenes in Scream. Creepy can only go so far......

  2. You watch your posts, boy, or you'll be deleted. Skeet, if you're reading this, he doesn't know what he's talking about. He only watched half of Jericho.
