Five Indoor Things I am Really Excited About

There are lots of things I like at the new house, too. Here are five things inside the house that I'm particularly enjoying. And given the stormy weather of the last month or so, having a safe basement to cower in ranks high!

- Basement
What the heck, nature?! Nebraskans are good people. Lay off the severe storms, please? But at least we have a good place to go during severe weather. We can even bath, sleep, and paint and heat set dishes in a kiln down there if we need to. (Except the kiln isn’t set up yet. Someday.)

- Garage / Smooth Garage Floor
Okay, so we’re probably months and months away from using it for real, but at least we have a garage now. It is nice for storing stuff in the mean time, and the floor is smooth enough for the girls to ride around on the floor. As soon as we have tricycles or something to ride around on.

- Multiple Bathrooms
We have three toilets and two bathtubs for our family. Plus a training potty, although that’s somewhat
temporary. I’m guessing someday we’ll be especially glad to have the extra porcelain fixtures, whether it be because we all have the flu at the same time or because someone takes really long baths (okay, that’s actually me).

- Storage
At our old house, there were only a few small closets. Here we have lots of closet space, logically located, and we bought several furniture items from my Grandma’s sale for storing things, too. Although a lot of those are still in the garage. But still, it’s nice to have options. Two entryway closets and an entry way sink with storage underneath? We’re rich! Well, if closets were an exchangeable currency.

- TV Reception
We still don’t have cable, and we won’t be getting it anytime soon (ever?), but we have a better signal on our convertor box out here. Right now we still get CBS, we get ABC more reliably, and now we sometimes have Fox! I haven’t had Fox since college. We also have an antenna to put up sometime soon, and who knows what that could add. Full of possibilities. Free station possibilities, that is.
